Bobcat News

Frank Monaghan, one of the principals in the Tara business together with fellow Director, Paul Newman, said: “We have been very impressed with the reliability and durability of the Bobcat equipment. The all-steel construction of Bobcat excavators provides great advantages in plant hire applications. There’s no plastic parts on these machines – they’re built solidly to take the bump and grind of work day in, day out on construction sites.”

Paul Newman added: “We were very impressed with the design of the engine cover. The solid metal rear tailgate provides excellent protection for the engine and other components and swings open to provide easy access for maintenance work. The Bobcat tailgate also costs much less to repair than on competitive machines.”

As well as ruggedness, the new Bobcat machines also bring with them the very latest in excavator design and engineering. Frank Monaghan continued: “The 435 and 323 models were both launched during 2005 and are brand new to the Bobcat range. The reception from our customers to all the new machines has been excellent.”

The 435 is the latest extension to the Bobcat range of zero tail swing excavators and avoids the compromises in cab height and operator comfort that often result from other zero tail swing designs. Instead, the 435 has a spacious cab design allowing easy entry and exit from the cab. Furthermore, the convenient swing open rear tailgate and the flip-up right side access hood offer ready access to service and maintenance items on the 435 excavator.

With an operating weight of 4788 kg, the 435 is powered by the Kubota V2003-M-DI-TE2B turbo-powered diesel engine providing 36.5 kW of output power. The maximum digging depth of the 435 with a standard dipper arm is 3420 mm and the maximum reach at ground level is 5611 mm.

Together with the 442 excavator also available from Tara, Bobcat now offers a range of three zero tail swing excavators with operating weights from 3.6 to 7.5 tonnes.

The new 323 mini-excavator meets a market need, particularly in the utility industry, for a very compact mini-excavator with greater reach for digging and loading. Maximum reach at ground level is 4014 mm whilst maximum digging depth is 2297 mm. The extra reach reduces the need for repositioning so, as well as digging deeper, the new Bobcat 323 mini-excavator offers a faster work cycle and more productivity.

The Tara order follows the recent appointment of Barloworld as the new Bobcat dealer in Kent, London, Hertfordshire and Sussex, extending the company’s existing Bobcat dealership in East Anglia, covering Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
